Campsite categorisation — what the 4-star category means
In Poland, campsites can be voluntarily awarded a star category. The scale runs from 1 to 4 stars, with 4 stars (★★★★) being the highest category — awarded to sites meeting the strictest requirements for infrastructure, facilities and service standard. In August 2026, Wiśniowa Polana in Miłków, at the foot of the Karkonosze mountains, was awarded the 4-star category.
What the assessment covers
- An on-site catering facility — for us, the Karkonosze Fish Fry
- A reception desk staffed during set hours
- Sanitary pavilions to a higher standard, with an adequate number of cubicles and accessibility for guests with disabilities
- Marked, designated pitches for caravans, motorhomes and tents
- 24-hour supervision and site lighting
- Additional recreational infrastructure — for us, a full-size 50×50 m Olympic pool
The 4-star category is a clear signal to guests from Poland and abroad — including Germany and the Netherlands, where similar classification systems (ADAC, ACSI) are well known — that a campsite meets a high standard of facilities and service. Wiśniowa Polana is located in Miłków, in the Jelenia Góra Valley in Lower Silesia, just minutes from Karpacz and the Karkonosze mountains.
